Best Drugstore Mascara Maybelline Lash Sensational

Lash Sensational Mascara from Maybelline New York is the first patented fanning brush

  • with 10 layers of bristles to reveal a full flourish of lashes.
  • Liquid Ink formula coats from all sides for a sensational full fan effect.

*****-I’ve tried so many “high-end” mascara (Benefits rollerlash, Benefits they’re real, etc) and this is by far my favorite mascara. Unlike rollerlash, it lengthens your lashes to the extreme! Unlike they’re real, it curls your lashes beyond compare. My eyelashes are stick straight and I don’t even need to curl them for this mascara to work! Love love love this product, and especially its price. The only downside I’d say is that it’s light coverage. With one coat the lashes look good, but nearly natural. I prefer my eyelashes to be stand out and be jet-black (basically, noticeable). With two/three coats the lashes start to get clumpy. I would recommend this mascara for more of a classic, natural look rather than paired with eyeliner and eyeshadow (it may look as if you forgot mascara with such bold eyes). I pair this mascara wit concealer and a light powder for an everyday natural look.

*****-This is my favorite drugstore brand mascara I have ever tried! This summer I had been struggling with multitudes of different mascaras that would build up a racoon-y smudge under my eye every single day. I saw that this was a dupe for benefit’s roller lash on you tube and decided to give it a shot because all of my others were horrible. BEST DECISION EVER! This mascara makes my lashes long, dark, and full, just how I love them!

*****-This is by far the best mascara I’ve ever used. I’ve used some of the expensive brands thinking they would be “better” and I come back to this mascara time after time. IT IS THE BEST. If you like full long lashes GET THIS!!! Tips on applying: I apply a coat with the brush pointing down (like it’s frowning) to get a good first coat and separation and then I’ll go back over and curl with the brush curved out (instead of the curve pointing up).

*****-Love love love this mascara. The brush has different textures on different sides so you can do a quick coat w the comb for a long clean fast look or build curve, volume and length with the spoon shaped side. I always finish w the comb side to seperate but I love the dramatic impact I get with this mascara. I have been repeat buying for over a year. When it’s brand new I do use a paper towel to remove some of the excess product from the brush, I wish they had a better contraption inside of it to do that but it’s so cheap it doesn’t really bother me

*****-I can’t imagine anyone giving this mascara a bad review. I am 66 years old. I do not like these mascaras that make your lashes look like stiff spikes. I want something that magnifies and compliments my eyes but that looks natural — something that leaves my eye lashes looking like real hair. I have used all three of the “Accelator” mascaras from Rimmel and this is my favorite. I really like the brush on this one because it separates the lashes so nicely. As far as making your lashes grow, I don’t know about that. I have been using RapidLash and I have to say that it has done real wonders for my lashes. But as far as a mascara, this is my favorite and it’s odd that it’s one of the least expensive. I have two tubes of DiorShow right now, and this is the one I grab for.The only “Con” I have is that I wish they would make it in Brown/Black.I hope they do not discontinue this mascara as they did with a previous one, the Lycra Lash Extender, that I also loved.
*****-This is a great product and my absolute favorite mascara! I have short thin lashes, so it seems as though I don’t have any. With a few coats of this mascara, my lashes come out insanely long. It doesn’t volumize too much but the whole purpose of this mascara is to make your lashes look longer. To add volume, I layer with the L’Oreal Voluminous mascara so my lashes look thick and long. The brush on this mascara has a lot of bristles and is pretty small. This makes it a whole lot easier to reach the inner lashes and coat the bottom ones. I’ve been using this mascara for a few weeks and I don’t see too much of a difference on my bare lashes. They look slightly longer but, I guess I have to use for a bit longer since I’ve only used it a couple of times in those weeks. All in all, this is a great buy for those who are looking for the insane length on their lashes.
*****-This mascara is AWESOME! HIGHLY recommended as part of my lash care and regrowth routine. I have tried many varieties of many brands of mascaras, my old favorite was CoverGirl clump crusher. Rimmel Lash Accelerator clumps less, flakes less and stays softer, not brittle, and is easier to remove. Also tried the ‘Endless’ version of Rimmel’s Lash Accelerator, and it had more issues with application, some initial clumping and minor flaking, although still preferred to Covergirl and other brands. The regular Lash Accelerator Mascara is by far my favorite.
CHARACTERISTICS & APPLICATION: The extreme black is a great intensity, better than most extreme black colors. The mascara goes on smoothly with a “medium-not-too-thin” consistency. It stays wet a little longer than most, which did take a bit to get used to. I now prefer this slightly thinner and wetter consistency because it gives me time to separate the lashes and comb/hold them ‘up’ for a curl without having to use those evil eyelash-ripping pinching curler contraptions. I can also build volume with this mascara by applying several coats, and it coats to the tip of the lash without clumping on the ends, so lashes appear as long as naturally possible. The Endless version did not really do any better at lengthening.
MASCARA WAND: I really like the mascara wand brush. The brush is one of the new types of plastic/rubber bristles, and it is tapered at the ends but full in the center. It works really well for coating top lashes in the traditional upward horizontal sweeping/curling motion, but also works well on individual and bottom lashes by vertical application with tip of wand.
MASCARA WEAR AND TOUCH-UP: The formula is flexible when dry and it does not flake or crumble, and seems to wear well through a 12 hour day without reapplying. If you do want to touch it up, no problems with the current mascara clumping or crumbling underneath. The mascara really isn’t water resistant, but I do not worry about it running or having spots where the lashes touch my skin in a typical day, and I have very long lashes now touching eyebrows (see growth tips below). I certainly wouldn’t go to a funeral or be caught in a downpour and expect it to hold up, but a watery eye here or there can be managed. I would not expect a heavy application to hold up during a workout or outside in extreme heat, but a light application should be ok.
HOW LONG MASCARA STAYS FRESH: I have now used this same tube for 11 weeks. It showed no signs of drying out or breaking down until about week 9, and I used it average 4-5 days a week. At 4 weeks it was just about the same as when I first opened it, maybe better because it had a chance to dry a bit. I am still wearing it, waiting for my reordered tube and putting up with shortened daily wear time. Many times I will like a mascara for the first week or so when it is freshly opened, but the formula will degrade quickly and within two weeks I am dealing with bad mascara – not the case here. Since mascara should be replaced every 3 months minimum, I feel I really got my money’s worth, especially since it is a bargain to begin with.
DOES IT REALLY ACCELERATE LASH GROWTH? I’m not sure the mascara causes your lashes to grow any faster or longer, but it will keep the lashes you have in good shape and prevent breakage because your lashes are soft, flexible, and not brittle with this formula.
REMOVAL: I personally remove mascara with coconut oil, so I cannot speak to ease of removal with other products, but two passes with the oil is sufficient to remove all traces of mascara. The battle for long lashes can easily be lost by a mascara that is too difficult to remove – you tug at eyelashes causing fall out – no problems here with that.
OVERALL, pretty much exactly what I want in a mascara, FINALLY! Only improvement would possibly be to have it a little more water resistant during wear. I do not know if there is a waterproof/resistant version, I haven’t seen one, but I would give it a try, and if not, Rimmel please make one!
LASH REGROWTH AND LENGTHENING ADVICE – If you truly want longer natural lashes, I recommend cleaning your eyelashes with a mild yet effective makeup remover where your lashes are not being pulled and all makeup traces are removed. KEY POINT- never pull at your lashes, ever! I use refined coconit oil & remove traces of oil with a baby wipe before the next step. I then apply Rapid Lash to the base of my lashes at night, let dry, then coat my lashes especially tips with Ardell Brow and Lash Growth Accelerator. Don’t get this in eyes it can sting but is fine just on lashes. The Ardell doesn’t really ‘accelerate’, but it does deep condition your lashes and protects lashes from breakage during sleep – think of it as you would conditioner your hair to keep it healthy, it’s the same principle. Must wash off the lashes in a.m. or mascara application will suffer. Apply Rimmel Lash Accelerator as part of normal makeup routine WITHOUT use of eyelash curler. Apply moderate coat to lashes, then hold lashes in an ‘up’ or curled position with lash comb (or I prefer to use side of my finger ;-)) while mascara dries. Expect that some mascara will come off (onto your finger) during this process. Build mascara to desired thickness and length repeating the ‘hold to curl’ process. You don’t have to let it completely dry between coats, but it doesn’t affect the application either way.
MY LASH REGROWTH STORY — Through a 6 month botched ‘experiment’ to enhance my look by using false strip lashes & glue of various brands, most of my natural lashes fell out, and I became ‘addicted’ to falsies since my lashes were gone. Had to go with no lashes to try to regrow – not a good look, but whatcha gonna do? I saw little results of regrowth until I started the daily routine I outlined above. Within 6 weeks my lashes were ‘normal’, and in 4 months I have as much length and volume as if I were wearing falsies, thanks in part to Rimmel’s Lash Accelerator Mascara. (And now at 6 months my lashes are over twice as thick and reach my eyebrows! I can still see new lashes continuing to grow in!) I hope they never discontinue this mascara, it’s great! Obviously I love love love makeup, been wearing makeup for 27 years.

Best Drugstore Mascara L’Oréal Voluminous

About the Product

  • The unique maximizing formula quickly thickens, up to 4X their natural thickness, and builds lashes in a single application for a full and dramatic look
  • The Volume Maximizing Brush thickens lashes evenly and smoothly, leaving them soft with virtually no flakes, smudges or clumps
  • Ophthalmologist and allergy-tested; suitable for sensitive eyes and contact lens wearers
  • Fragrance-free
  • Waterproof mascara

*****-I have only had positive experiences with this mascara and keep going back to it after trying much more expensive brands.

Cheaper to get it at Target than Amazon, often goes on sale for under $6.00

Best Voluminous formula:
-Get this waterproof version of L’Oreal Voluminous. I’ve tried Voluminous in waterproof, regular and carbon black versions – they all smear except for the waterproof. Carbon Black is the WORST at smearing and flaking, it’s really terrible.

-Never have any problems flakey or smearing
-Difficult to get off with regular face wash, you need to have eye make up remover
-Hold the curl from an eyelash curler very well
-Does not look fake, just enhances look of natural lashes
-No clumping problems (make sure when you take the wand out of the tube you wipe the edges off on the top of the tube to get the excess off so you don’t have clumping, then when you put the wand back in the tube that excess goes back in the container so you don’t waste any product)

*****-I love this mascara! As a swimmer and lifeguard, this was the best truly waterproof mascara I found. It can be a little difficult to take off at night, but most eye make up removers will get the job done. It takes a little patience (the first few applications are a bit “wet” and can give you spidery looking lashes) but after a week or so, its perfect. I’ve been using it for over ten years now and have yet to find anything better.

*****-i like it, i bought it two days ago, and it takes me like 5 mins on each eye for my eyelashes but I LOVE IT. my eyelashes seem fake because they become sooo long and with volume!! i have to say my eyelashes are pretty short, and this mascara it’s the best!

*****-One of my favorite mascaras. I love the pigmentation and finish on this. The consistency is amazing. Keep in mind that its best for volume definitely not length. It also clumps after two coats. However it is still such an amazing mascara. I definitely recommend it!

*****-No Mascara Smudging!!! I have tried multiple mascara’s (from high end to department stores) and by the end of the day there is a black smudge on my eyelids. This is the only mascara that I’ve tried that does not do that and it’s so cheap! Love it!

*****-I must admit I’ve been a bit high maintenance regarding my mascara in the past. I’ve tried drugstore brands here and there, only to be disappointed that I look like a crack whore with spidery eyelashes after two swipes of the wand. Not quite the look I’m going for. For the past 15 years, I’ve been looking for the perfect mascara that will give me DEFINED, BEAUTIFUL, VOLUMINOUS lashes. I did find several that I liked, but the problem was they were all $25-35. It gets quite expensive after a while!

Lancome Definicils was one of my go-to favorite mascaras (also have tried many variations of Lancome Hypnose, Dior Extase, Dior Blackout, YSL, Estee Lauder, MUFE, Benefit, etc). After running out of my last tube and needing another mascara on a whim, I did EXTENSIVE research to figure out what mascaras were most popular and what those people liked/did not like about each of those mascaras. I probably did research for a few hours a week over two months. Ridiculous, I know, but I’m super research-oriented and do this on most of my purchases to get a great cost/benefit analysis to make sure the product will meet my needs.

I found a problem withe the reviews. Drugstore mascaras that had good reviews (4+ out of 5 stars) were rated by people who WANTED a natural mascara look that just enhances what you already have. I wanted volume, length, and whatever, so essentially, those “highly rated” drug store mascaras DID NOT WORK for me at all. I have blue eyes, fair complexion, freckles, and medium brown hair, and need all the help I can get to emphasize my eyes.

I really like the L’Oreal Telescopic Mascara (in Carbon Black!) because of a few things:
1) THE WAND! You can really get in there and grab whatever lashes you want to with this wand. Do another coat and you can easily get extra volume and definition. Don’t apply too many coats or else you may need to get a spooly to separate your lashes a bit.
2) THE FORMULA! I’ve been wearing this stuff for about a year and it does not flake, smear, or give me raccoon eyes. I have hooded lids and don’t have any issues with this mascara at all. It’s fantastic, I promise!
3) IT LASTS A WHILE! I don’t think this mascara dries out very quickly, so you can use it for more than a month or two without it drying out too badly. Much longer shelf life than the more expensive brands.
4) THE PRICE! Think about this: if you’re paying $30 (with tax, let’s assume) for a more expensive mascara, and let’s say you can get by with using each tube for two months, you’re spending $180 on mascara for the year. Compare that price to this tube… let’s say you get this mascara for about $8 with tax and use each tube for two months, that’s $48 for the year. FORTY-EIGHT DOLLARS. That’s a savings of $132. Or, another way to look at this: one year of expensive mascara can buy you about 3.75 years of this L’Oreal Telescopic Mascara! That’s an awesome cost/benefit analysis if you tell me.
